Wonderful, thank you - what a pleasure to find a helpful soul on the 'net who has grappled with the problem I was facing. My setup was similar: cable modem --> TA612V --> Safe@Office 500 firewall/router --> internal network switch. I needed to move the TA612V inside the firewall to allow the firewall to establish VPNs with other outside addresses. Following your instructions, with a couple of local variations, did the trick.
Changes specific to my env't:
Step 3: I had to attach the TA612V Ethernet socket direct to my PC to get at the admin web interface, and then I configured the LAN settings on the TA612V to use a specific 192.168.0.x internal address, and turned DHCP off.
Step 4: also completed with the TA612V direct to the PC.
Steps 6 & 7: Turned out to be unnecessary for me - once I connected the TA612V Internet port to one of the Ethernet ports on the inside of my firewall, VOIP was working straight away.
Step 8: If you're running a switch/hub internally, you can connect the Ethernet port of the TA612V to a spare switch port, and the TA's web admin interface will then be available on the IP address assigned in Step 3 above.
Once again, many thanks for posting such a helpful procedure, all the best.

Hi Sunny.
I don't exactly understand your question. What do you mean by "I have a modem router, DSL-504T instead of connecting the modem to the router". If you mean that your DSL-Modem and router is one and the same device (which I assume), then you can follow this guide, obviously skipping parts one and two.
I'm sorry that I won't send you detailed instructions on how to setup your port forwarding via e-mail. Instead I hope you know someone to assist you there. You can find more (general) infos about port-forwarding for your DSL-504T for example here: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DSL-504T/ICUII.htm
Step 7 should allow your TA612V to receive automatic updates from Sipgate. But (as you can read in he text) I have never tried to investigate that behaviour because I didn't need the auto-update function. Just try to forward these two ports to your TA612V. Perhaps you can report sometimes if the auto-updates work then.

I hope that I could help you at least a little bit.

Hi, I have a question. I have a modem router, DSL-504T instead of connecting the modem to the router. Does it matter? In addition, I don't understand what I need to do in Step 6 and Step 7. Could you write more specifically about them by email to me? Thank you!

B.regards,
Sunny

WOW this worked first time!!!!
Thank you so much for posting your article on using a Netgear TA612V behind a router, I've been trying unsuccessfully for weeks to get a home network running between two computers but one being behind the TA612V was preventing this. Now I have internet access on both pc's, my phone works and I can share files and printers! I really cannot thank you enough.
Kindest regards from the UK, Michelle x
